# Rogue Introduction

Rogue is a decentralized peer-to-peer betting ecosystem driven by smart contract code that is deployed on our own lightning-fast blockchain built for high throughput and ultra-low gas costs. The key components of Rogue are:

* Rogue Protocol
* Rogue Chain
* ROGUE Token
* Rogue Trader
* Rogue DAO
* Ambassador Program

# Rogue Protocol

The Rogue Protocol describes the sum total of Rogue's individual components working together to create a decentralized and trustless peer-to-peer betting system.

It includes our custom-built blockchain, the smart contracts, the ROGUE token, the Rogue Trader betting game and the Rogue DAO, as well as the built-in betting infrastructure such as crypto wallet, bet management systems, house bankrolls, token bridge, provably-fair random number generator (RNG) and the integration of various betting currencies.

Having these features built and working together as a functional system means that game developers who launch their betting games on the Rogue Protocol can focus on their area of expertise, like the game mechanics and graphics and user experience, instead of building the complex blockchain systems needed to create a self-custodial and trustless betting game.

# Rogue Chain

Rogue Chain is the backbone on which everything is built. It's our lightning-fast blockchain custom-built for fast-paced gambling games with high throughput and ultra-low gas costs.

Built atop Arbitrum's battle-tested technology stack, Rogue Chain provides instant time-to-finality on all bet transactions without sacrificing the principles of decentralization and security. Capable of processing and paying out thousands of bets per second, the average bet transaction costs just one hundredth of a cent. The Rogue Chain Testnet is live now and processing over 250,000 bet transactions per day from our Rogue Trader game.

Rogue Chain's native gas token is the ROGUE token, meaning that all transaction fees are payable in ROGUE. Gas fees are shared with the validators who run watchtower nodes to secure the network.

[Click here to view Rogue Chain Testnet block explorer](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/)

# ROGUE Token

The ROGUE Token is the lifeblood of the entire ecosystem. As the native gas token of Rogue chain it's involved in every transaction.

ROGUE is also the governance token of the Rogue DAO, giving control of the project to the community.

And gamblers who bet using ROGUE tokens pay zero fees on their winnings, meaning there's absolutely no house edge working against you. When you play with ROGUE tokens you're playing the fairest games of chance in the world.

The ROGUE Token Generation Event (TGE) is scheduled to take place after the launch of the Rogue Trader public playtest in late summer 2024 when 100 billion ROGUE tokens will be minted on the Arbitrum One blockchain. Ten billion ROGUE tokens will be sold in a public token sale on [FjordFoundry](https://www.fjordfoundry.com/) with a target price of $0.001 per token and a target raise of $10 million.

# Rogue Trader

[Rogue Trader](https://roguechain.io/rogue-trader) is a fast-paced binary options betting game where you are trading on a volatile index that is powered by our provably-fair random number generator, where every price update of the index is an immutable on-chain transaction. Self-custodial and trustless, players bet that the index will go up or down in the time period of their choosing, from the next 2 seconds to the next 24 hours or anywhere in between.

If the index goes in the direction you selected over the time period of your bet then you double your stake. If your bet loses then you lose your entire stake. When betting with ROGUE tokens you pay zero fees on your winnings, making Rogue Trader literally the fairest game of chance in the world with no house edge working against you.

When you bet with USDT or ARB tokens you pay a tiny 0.3% fee on every winning bet, the lowest house edge of any betting platform in the world. This fee is distributed instantly and trustlessly to the liquidity providers, chain validators, ROGUE stakers, affiliates and game developers who power the game.

Whilst playing you retain possession of your wallet balance at all times in your own Web3 wallet. You can connect your own hardware wallet via Metamask or you can set up a new wallet with just an email address.

When you place a bet you send the stake in an on-chain transaction to the Rogue Trader smart contract which then passes it onto the house bankroll smart contract. If your bet wins you are paid out instantly in the same on-chain transaction that updates the Rogue Trader index price. It's impossible for Rogue to hold back your winnings at any time for any reason.

As a fully decentralized and trustless game its also possible to bypass the game UI on our website and place bets on the Rogue Trader index by interacting directly with the [Rogue Trader smart contract](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/address/0x5554503fdE48a05E36E7A54370332088faB2c58a) through the Rogue Chain block explorer or programatically using open source software like ethers.js and Rogue Chain's public RPC endpoint.

For this reason it's impossible for us to prevent anyone from playing because your bets are on-chain transactions sent to a trustless smart contract on a public blockchain. So you'll never get banned for winning and you'll never be asked for identifying information or be blocked because of your location. We can't stop you from playing even if we wanted to.

Binary options are a wildly popular betting format throughout the world. But they've earned a bad reputation because most of the centralized binary options betting platforms are run by shady operators who don't pay out winners or who manipulate the settlement prices to make you lose or who steal your identity - or all three.

Rogue Trader fixes all of these problems. Our trustless smart contracts pay out winners automatically, making it impossible for us to hold back your winnings at any time for any reason. We also cannot influence the settlement price of your bet because every price update of the index is generated by our provably-fair RNG and then posted on-chain in an immutable transaction which then instantly triggers all payouts of all winning bets within that transaction. And we can't steal your identity because we never ask for it in the first place.

And if you figure out some winning system there's nothing we can do to stop you from betting because you can send transactions directly to the Rogue Trader smart contract through our block explorer or programmatically using Rogue Chain's public RPC endpoint.

And lastly, if you bet with ROGUE tokens there isn't even any house edge working against you - you'll be playing the fairest game of chance in the world.

# Rogue DAO

One of the great promises of blockchain technology is the ability of a community to organize itself into a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). The Rogue DAO will have complete control over the entire Rogue Protocol, including the blockchain, the token and the betting platform.

Rogue is therefore governed by the community for the benefit of the community. The more ROGUE tokens you hold, the more weight your vote carries when voting on proposals. Any member of the DAO can propose something and the community votes on it. Proposals can be about anything, from how to spend the DAO's treasury to what games to develop next or how best to attract game developers with certain grants or incentive programs or anything else you can think of.

Until the ROGUE Token Generation Event in late summer 2024 the Rogue DAO is still forming because until that date the governance token doesn't exist. After the TGE the Rogue DAO will officially form and create the on-chain voting portal where all holders of the ROGUE token can take an active role in steering the project.

Initially the voting portal will be deployed onto the Arbitrum One mainnet because ROGUE will be deployed natively onto that blockchain. But after Rogue Chain reaches mainnet the DAO voting portal will be moved over to the Rogue Chain where it will be governed by ROGUE tokens that have been bridged across from Arbitrum to Rogue Chain.

One of the core principles of the Rogue DAO will be to maintain and protect your right to interact freely with decentralized protocols and public blockchains - whoever you are and wherever you may live. We are a fully inclusive community where anyone is welcome.

# Blockchain Betting

Gambling is one of the best use cases for blockchain technology. But most cryptocurrency casinos are still centralized platforms where you must deposit your tokens and hope that you can withdraw them later without any issues. Many also require KYC and actively geoblock many locations.

Decentralized casinos on mainstream chains solve the above problems but they in turn have other problems, such as very expensive gas fees on every bet ($0.35 to $0.75 per bet) that make it impossible to win, a confusing user experience for non crypto natives and games that are slow and boring.

Chains like Polygon also have the real possibility of a chain reorg that could cancel your winning bet up to a minute later, and the games are slow because betting must be closed and reopened in separate on-chain transactions to prevent corrupt miners from front-running on-chain game results and winning every bet.

Rogue Chain solves all these problems because it is custom-built for fast-paced gambling games whilst maintaining a fully self-custodial and trustless betting environment. Built using Arbitrum's battle tested Nitro stack, all bet transactions have near-instant time-to-finality, zero chance of a chain reorg and on-chain game results cannot be front-run by anyone because there is no mempool and the Sequencer processes all transactions instantly in the order they arrive.

Rogue Chain can efficiently process and pay out thousands of bets per second. On top of that, the average bet transaction costs one hundredth of a cent, meaning that players of any size can enjoy our games and still have a realistic chance of winning without being killed by gas fees.

Such cheap gas fees also make it viable for us to create fast-paced games like Rogue Trader that post 30 on-chain game result transactions per minute, creating a user experience unlike other decentralized casinos who must minimize such on-chain transactions to reduce costs. Cheap gas fees also allow us to send your winning payouts to your wallet instantly instead of requiring you to claim your winnings in a separate transaction to save on gas costs.

# Self-Custodial & Trustless

Being self-custodial and trustless is critical to the ethos of the Rogue Protocol. Players must be able to bet on our games with absolute confidence that it's impossible for the house to steal their money or hold back their winnings or influence the outcomes of the game results.

The Rogue Protocol is regulated by the immutable and unbending laws of smart contract code and mathematics. The [source code of our game and bankroll smart contracts](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/verified-contracts) is publicly viewable on the Rogue Chain block explorer and by mainnet those contracts will be fully audited by a trusted third party.

Every bet placed is an irreversible on-chain transaction sent to a trustless smart contract that will always do exactly what its supposed to do and which cannot be influenced by anyone.

You can view every bet placed by everyone in real-time on the [Rogue Chain block explorer](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/) and you can verify that every winning bet is paid out instantly. You can also verify that the fees on USDT and ARB winnings are also paid out instantly to the liquidity providers, validators, delegators, affiliates and game developers in real-time.

You can also verify in real-time that the game results that settle all bets are provably-fair and impossible for anyone to influence. These game results are fed directly from their source to the game smart contracts which use them to instantly settle bets and pay out the winners.

Whilst betting you retain full custody of your betting balance in your own Web3 wallet. When you place a bet you send your stake directly to the game smart contract which passes it onto the house bankroll which pays out your winning bet instantly if you win. It's impossible for us or anyone else to interfere with that process, meaning we can never hold back your winnings for any reason.

We also can't ban winners or refuse to take anyone's bets for any reason because every bet is an on-chain transaction on a public blockchain. Even if we banned you from using the website UI you could send bet transactions directly to the game smart contract on the [Rogue Chain block explorer](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/) or programatically using open source software like [ethers.js](https://docs.ethers.org/v5/) and the Rogue Chain public RPC endpoint.

# Provably-Fair Results

We use the highly respected third party service at random.org to generate all our random numbers. Unlike other services who generate pseudo-random numbers that are deterministic if you know the correct seed phrase, at random.org they generate true random numbers by measuring changes in atmospheric pressure caused by thunderstorms.

And they have developed a verification system that attaches a serial number and a hashed API key to every random number generated so that you can confirm on their website in real time that we're not continually asking for a new random number until we get one that we like. If the random numbers generated have the correct hashed API key and the associated serial numbers are sequential you can be certain that we are receiving and using random numbers as we get them that are completely out of our control to influence.

In the [Rogue Trader game](https://roguechain.io/rogue-trader), we start the index at 50,000 and then we ask random.org for a random number within a maximum range of 500 above or below that number. We receive a random number between 49,500 and 50,500 and this number and its associated serial number are immediately posted on-chain in a transaction that updates the price of the Rogue Trader index to this new value. That same transaction settles all winning bets that settle at that serial number.

We then request another random number within a range of 500 above or below this latest number and then immediately post that number and its associated serial number on-chain to update the Rogue Trader index price. We then request another number within a range of 500 above or below this latest number and this process carries on ad infinitum.

As a binary options game, each bet placed must have an expiry time, and your bet is deemed to have won or lost based on the index price at that expiry time. But smart contracts have no concept of time so using an actual expiry time doesn't work. So instead we use the serial number associated with each random number as the expiry date. For example, you place a bet that the index will be higher in a time period measured not in seconds or minutes but in serial numbers. Every bet placed has a serial number at which it expires and is settled according to what the index price is at that serial number.

This works very well because you can verify in real time on the random.org website what random number (index price) should be associated with a certain serial number. This makes it impossible for us to manipulate the index price at or around the expiry time of your bet because we have no control over the index price at a certain serial number. Also, the index price and serial number are verifiable both on random.org's website and also on the Rogue Chain block explorer where they are posted in an immutable on-chain transaction that can never be altered or edited, allowing you to verify that they match.

You can verify all results easily and in real-time by going to the Verify Results tab on the [Rogue Trader game interface](https://roguechain.io/rogue-trader). In every row of that table you can confirm that the serial numbers are indeed sequential. In each row you will see a link on the far right called Verify Result which will take you to the random.org verification page that verifies the index price and serial number of the row you clicked in. Then in the same row in the table, click on the transaction hash link which will take you to the Rogue chain block explorer where you can see that the same index price and serial number provided by random.org were indeed posted on-chain where they were used to update the index price and settle bets that expired at that serial number.

All bets are settled and paid out in the same transaction that updates the index price and serial number. Therefore if there were bets to settle and pay out at that serial number you will see those transactions first when you click on the transaction hash link in the Verify Results table. Scroll all the way to the bottom and there you will see the PriceUpdated transaction with the correct price and serial number.

# Be The House

One of the great strengths of the Rogue Protocol is that game results are provably-fair, making it impossible for us to manipulate game results to make you lose. But another great strength is that we don't even have any incentive to try and cheat because you're not betting against us. We don't care if you win or lose because our bankroll smart contracts are funded by liquidity providers who act as the house in order to earn 1% of all winning bets.

The Rogue Protocol is actually a peer-to-peer betting system where we connect counterparties and guarantee correct and instant payouts of winning bets via our trustless smart contracts. This creates a huge earning opportunity for DeFi enthusiasts who may not be interested in gambling but who are interested in earning a steady and reliable income by acting as the house and taking all bets 24/7.

And just like the Rogue Protocol is self-custodial and trustless for our players, so it is also for our liquidity providers. Our house bankrolls are liquidity pool smart contracts very similar to how Uniswap pools work. When you add liquidity into a house bankroll, you receive in return a number of newly minted pool tokens that represent your exact share of the bankroll balance at the time you deposited your liquidity.

These pool tokens are held by you in your own wallet and you can withdraw some or all of your liquidity at any time simply by depositing these pool tokens back into the house bankroll smart contract where they are immediately burned. Whatever percentage of the total supply of pool tokens you deposit is the percentage of the house bankroll balance you will receive, all in the same trustless transaction.

As players place bets and lose money, the total balance of the house bankroll smart contract will increase. Your pool tokens represent a share of that balance so therefore your pool tokens increase in value as players lose money because they represent a share of an ever increasing balance of tokens. If players are winning money then the value of your pool tokens will decrease because they represent a diminishing balance.

But when you are the house the edge is always on your side. Over a long enough period of time the 0.1% of each winning bet that is awarded to the liquidity providers will ensure that the players will eventually lose and the house will win. Some players will get lucky and win but as an overall group the players will inevitably lose money over time.

You can see the real-time performance of our house bankrolls over various time periods during our current closed testnet period at the following links:

{% embed url="<https://roguechain.io/rogue-bankroll>" %}
Note there are zero fees charged on winning bets when betting with ROGUE tokens so the value of LP-ROGUE pool tokens doesn't increase that much because the house bankroll balance of ROGUE tokens stays relatively flat because there's no edge in the house's favor.
{% endembed %}

{% embed url="<https://roguechain.io/usdt-bankroll>" fullWidth="false" %}
Players who bet with USDT tokens pay 0.3% of their winning bets in fees, 0.1% of which stays in the bankroll balance as reward for the liquidity providers. This house edge ensures the value of LP-USDT pool tokens consistently rises over time as the bankroll balance increases.
{% endembed %}

{% embed url="<https://roguechain.io/arb-bankroll>" %}
Players who bet with ARB tokens pay 0.3% of their winning bets in fees, 0.1% of which stays in the bankroll balance as reward for the liquidity providers. This house edge ensures the value of LP-ARB pool tokens consistently rises over time as the bankroll balance increases.

# Email-Only Signup

Decentralized betting requires the player to have a cryptocurrency wallet that he connects to the platform in order to send bet transactions to the blockchain. This is fine for crypto natives and we continue to let them connect their crypto wallets to the Rogue platform via Metamask. But it's a major point of friction for people who aren't familiar with blockchains and cryptocurrency.

Therefore we have integrated [Magic.link](https://magic.link/) into the Rogue platform. This allows new users who may not have a cryptocurrency wallet to sign up quickly and easily with just an email address. Magic then creates a fully functional and self-custodial Web3 wallet on the user's computer which they can use to interact with Rogue Chain.

Unlike hardware wallets, this Magic wallet does not require the user to confirm every step of every transaction when placing a bet. This reduces the amount of time and the number of clicks needed to place a bet and gives the user a more streamlined and intuitive experience that more resembles the centralized betting experience they may be used to.

# Ultra-Low Gas Fees

One of the key driving forces behind building our own custom blockchain was the ability to reduce gas fees significantly. There are currently many decentralized casinos running on mainstream chains but they are unuseable because the gas fees to place a bet are so high - typically between $0.35 to $0.75 per bet. This is like an extra house edge working you that makes it impossible to have any chance of winning, especially for smaller players.

Rogue Chain is a layer 3 blockchain that utilizes Arbitrum's AnyTrust technology, meaning that we keep most of our rollup data off-chain, only storing the hashes that represent the data onto the Arbitrum One parent chain. This is similar to how NFT images are stored off-chain on IPFS and only the unique link that points to that image is posted on-chain.

Our transaction data is still available and fully verifiable by any watchtower node. But posting only a small hash on-chain that points to our data instead of posting the complete rollup data of thousands of our transactions every hour significantly reduces our layer 2 gas costs, making it possible to drastically reduce our gas fees.

Currently it costs around one hundredth of a cent in gas fees to place a bet transaction on Rogue Chain. This makes our betting games accessible to all players, regardless of their bet size. It also opens up the possibility of us subsidizing players' gas costs from our fees on winnings by using Account Abstraction to completely eliminate gas fees from the betting experience.

Low gas fees also make it financially viable for us to create fast-paced games like Rogue Trader that post up to 30 game results per minute on-chain. It also allows us to pay out your winning bets to your wallet instantly in the same transaction that settled your bet instead of making you claim your winnings in a separate transaction so that we can save on gas fees.

All in all, lower gas fees equate to a better user experience, faster paced games and instant payouts.

# Instant Payouts

Instant payouts of winning bets don't exist in online gambling. If you're on a centralized platform it may look like they payout instantly but in fact they still have full custody of your entire betting balance which you may or may not get back, so they haven't paid out anything.

And decentralized casinos need to save on gas fees so they make you claim your winnings in a separate transaction so that you pay the gas costs. This is an inconvenience that takes you away from the betting and means that your winnings are not immediately available to bet with and are not in your custody.

On Rogue we pay out all your winning bets instantly in the same transaction that settled your bet, directly to your Web3 wallet where it is immediately available to bet with and in your custody. Our trustless bankroll smart contracts hold your bet for the minimum possible amount of time before sending your winnings right back out to you if you win.

This is made possible partly because Rogue Chain has such high throughput and it can process and pay out thousands of bets per second. It's also made possible by our ultra-low gas fees that mean we don't have to worry about the extra gas cost of initiating a token transfer transaction to your wallet.

# Rogue Chain

Rogue Chain is our lightning-fast blockchain custom-built for fast-paced gambling games that require high throughput and ultra-low gas costs.

Built using Arbitrum's battle-tested Nitro stack, Rogue Chain is an EVM compatible layer 3 chain with instant time-to-finality on all bet transactions. With no chance of bets being cancelled out by chain reorgs, we can settle and pay out winning bets instantly to your Web3 wallet.

Instead of a mempool, Rogue Chain uses a sequencer that processes transactions instantly in the order they are received, making it impossible for anyone to front-run game results as we post them on-chain. This allows us to develop fast moving games where we don't have to continually close and reopen betting while settling bets.

By using AnyTrust technology, Rogue Chain stores the rollup data of our transactions offline and only post a small hash that links to that data onto the parent chain. This is instead of posting a full rollup of all our transaction data onto the parent chain every hour which can be very expensive. Independent validator nodes still have full access to all our transaction data and can still verify every transaction as valid, but our layer 2 gas costs are drastically reduced, meaning the average bet transaction on Rogue Chain costs just one hundredth of a cent.

Such low gas fees and the ability to process and pay out thousands of bets per second allow us to create fast moving games like Rogue Trader that require up to 30 on-chain price updates per minute whilst paying out every winning bet instantly.

The Rogue Chain Testnet is live now and processing over 250,000 bet transactions per day from our Rogue Trader game.

Rogue Chain's native gas token is the ROGUE token, meaning that all transaction fees are payable in ROGUE. Gas fees are shared with the validator nodes in return for them securing the network by independently verifying the validity of every transaction.

[Click here to view Rogue Chain Testnet block explorer](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/)

# Testnet Live Now

You can view the live testnet now on the [Rogue Chain block explorer](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/). The chain is currently processing over 250,000 transactions per day, which are coming from the betting activity of our bots on the closed testnet of the Rogue Trader game.

We plan to open Rogue Trader playtest to the public in late summer 2024 which is when you will be able to claim testnet tokens from the faucet and start placing bets to compete for your share of our airdrop in the Rogue Trader Challenge.

You will also be able to send and receive testnet tokens between EVM compatible wallets, bridge testnet tokens back and forth between Rogue Chain Testnet and Arbitrum Sepolia and even deploy your own smart contracts if you want to.

# ROGUE Gas Token

The native gas token of Rogue Chain is the ROGUE token (actually it's the bridged version of ROGUE that was bridged across from Arbitrum One). All transaction fees on Rogue Chain are paid in ROGUE tokens, making the token indispensable to the operation of the chain. Nothing happens on Rogue Chain without the ROGUE token.

The ROGUE Token Generation Event is planned for late summer 2024 when 100 billion tokens will be minted on the Arbitrum One chain. When Rogue Chain mainnet is launched, most ROGUE tokens will be bridged across to Rogue Chain where they will be needed for paying gas fees, staking to earn network rewards, governance of the Rogue DAO and for betting with zero fees on winnings.

Unlike other EVM chains that have a mempool, all transactions on Rogue Chain are processed instantly by the Sequencer in the order they arrive. This means that users don't need to increase gas prices to compete for block space. The current price per unit of gas is fixed at 0.0000001 ROGUE (100 Gwei). This means the average gas cost of placing a bet transaction is about 0.031 ROGUE.

At a projected TGE price of $0.001 per token this means the average cost to place a bet is $0.000031, about 3 thousandths of a cent.

# Ultra-Low Gas Fees

There are two main reasons why Rogue Chain can charge such low gas fees. Firstly, as an AnyTrust layer 3 chain we store our transaction data off-chain and only post a small hash that represents that data onto the parent chain. As opposed to being a full rollup layer 3 which posts the full rollup of all our transaction data onto the parent chain every hour which can get very expensive in gas fees. This significantly reduces our layer 2 gas costs.

Secondly, unlike other EVM chains that have a mempool, all transactions on Rogue Chain are processed instantly by the Sequencer in the order they arrive. So not only do we have very high throughput capabilities, but also users don't need to increase gas prices to compete for block space.

The current price per unit of gas is fixed at 0.0000001 ROGUE (100 Gwei). This means the average gas cost of placing a bet transaction is about 0.031 ROGUE. With a projected token price of $0.001 at TGE this means the average cost of an on-chain bet transaction is $0.000031, or about 3 thousandths of a cent.

There are several advantages to ultra-low gas fees, both for our players and for Rogue. Players of any size can enjoy betting on our games without being killed by high gas fees that make it impossible to win. And we can post game results on-chain every couple of seconds and pay out winning bets instantly without worrying about high gas costs making the game unviable.

# Instant Transaction Finality

Rogue Chain's use of a Sequencer that processes transactions instantly in the order they are received has many benefits, including reducing gas costs and preventing front-running of game result transactions by corrupt miners.

But using a Sequencer instead of a mempool also removes the possibility of chain reorgs, meaning that transactions on Rogue Chain have instant time-to-finality.

Most other EVM chains require you to wait a certain number of blocks before considering a transaction to be final, making it impossible to run fast-paced betting games or to pay out winning bets instantly.

On Rogue Chain we can confirm all bets instantly and move on with the game. And your winning bets will never be cancelled later in a chain reorg, meaning we can pay out winning bets instantly.

# AnyTrust: Revolutionizing Blockchain Infrastructure

Rogue Chain has harnessed innovation through AnyTrust, an advanced version of Arbitrum Nitro technology, to tackle critical challenges in the blockchain arena. AnyTrust brings a new perspective by integrating a minor trust assumption, effectively lowering costs while ensuring strong data availability and security.

# Reducing Costs Through Trust Assumptions

At the heart of the Arbitrum protocol lies the requirement for all its nodes, including validators responsible for verifying chain accuracy and staking on correct outcomes, to access data from every Layer 2 (L2) transaction within the Arbitrum chain's inbox. Traditionally, achieving this data access involved posting data on Layer 1 (L1) Ethereum as calldata, incurring significant Ethereum gas fees, the primary cost factor in Arbitrum.

However, AnyTrust introduces a fundamental change by delegating the storage and on-demand provision of data to an external entity called the Data Availability Committee (the "Committee"). Comprising N members, the Committee operates under the trust assumption that at least two members are honest. This assumption ensures data availability critical for the rollup protocol's proper functioning. Even if N-1 Committee members pledge access to certain data, the trust assumption guarantees that at least one entity must be honest, ensuring data availability until the specified expiration time.

# Keysets for Flexibility

Keysets are pivotal within AnyTrust's framework, defining the public keys of Committee members and the necessary signatures to validate a Data Availability Certificate (DACert). They offer the adaptability to modify Committee membership and empower members to update their keys as required.

Every Keyset comprises the count of Committee members, the BLS public key for each member, and the requisite signature count. Distinguished by unique hashes, these Keysets facilitate streamlined management and tracking.

# Data Availability Certificates (DACerts)

At the core of AnyTrust lies the concept of the Data Availability Certificate (DACert). This certificate comprises the hash of a data block, an expiration time, and evidence that N-1 Committee members have signed the (hash, expiration time) pair. This evidence includes the hash of the Keyset used for signing, a bitmap indicating the signing Committee members, and a BLS aggregated signature over the BLS12-381 curve, affirming the authenticity of the signatures.

Operating on the 2-of-N trust assumption, a DACert provides assurance that a block's data will be accessible from at least one honest Committee member until the specified expiration time. This foundational trust assumption forms the basis for the reliability and security of data availability within the AnyTrust framework.

# Dual Data Posting Mechanisms

AnyTrust introduces two methods for posting data blocks on L1. Alongside the conventional approach of posting complete data blocks, it enables the posting of DACerts, serving as evidence of data availability. The L1 inbox contract validates DACerts, referencing the specified valid Keyset within each DACert.

L2 code, responsible for reading data from the inbox, is engineered to seamlessly handle both data formats. When encountering a DACert, it conducts validity assessments, ensuring the number of signers meets the Keyset requirements, validating the aggregated signature, and confirming that the expiration time extends beyond the current L2 timestamp. Valid DACerts guarantee the accessibility and usability of the data block by the L2 code.

# Data Availability Servers

Committee members manage Data Availability Servers (DAS), which provide access to two crucial APIs:

1. Sequencer API: Reserved solely for use by the Arbitrum chain's Sequencer, this JSON-RPC interface allows the Sequencer to submit data blocks to the DAS for storage.
2. REST API: Tailored for wider access, this RESTful HTTP(S)-based protocol permits retrieval of data blocks by hash. It supports full caching, and deployments can integrate caching proxies or CDNs to improve scalability and mitigate potential DoS attacks.

# Sequencer-Committee Interaction

When the Arbitrum sequencer initiates posting a data batch through the Committee, it simultaneously dispatches the data, along with an expiration time, to all Committee members via RPC. Each Committee member receives the data, stores it, signs the (hash, expiration time) pair using its BLS key, and returns the signature along with a success indicator to the sequencer.

Upon collecting sufficient signatures, the Sequencer aggregates them to form a valid DACert for the (hash, expiration time) pair. This DACert is then transmitted to the L1 inbox contract, rendering it accessible to the AnyTrust chain software at L2.

In instances where the Sequencer fails to gather enough signatures within the specified timeframe, it adopts a "fall back to rollup" strategy by directly posting the full data to the L1 chain. The L2 software is proficient in understanding both data posting formats (via DACert or full data) and handles each format accordingly.

In essence, AnyTrust, a pioneering innovation within the Offchain Labs ecosystem, signifies a significant leap forward in addressing challenges related to data availability, security, and cost efficiency in blockchain infrastructure. By employing a prudent trust assumption and introducing a fresh approach to data posting, AnyTrust lays the groundwork for more scalable, accessible, and secure blockchain solutions.

# Connect to Rogue Chain Testnet

### Chain Information

* **Network Name**: Rogue Chain Testnet
* **RPC Endpoint**: <https://testnet-rpc.roguechain.io>
* **Chain ID**: 27893781574
* **Currency Symbol**: ROGUE
* **Block Explorer**: <https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/>

# Get Testnet Tokens

Currently Rogue Chain is in closed testnet and we are not yet giving out testnet tokens. All activity on the testnet that you can see on the [Rogue Chain block explorer](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/) is being done by our internal betting bots on the closed testnet of the Rogue Trader game.

When we are ready to open up the Rogue Trader playtest to the public we will activate our testnet token faucet. The faucet will give out testnet ROGUE, USDT and ARB tokens that you can use to place bets to compete for your share of our airdrop in the Rogue Trader Challenge.

You can also get testnet tokens by whitelisting your wallet on our [Discord channel](https://discord.gg/edc3cpkJqf). When we open the Rogue Trader playtest we'll send $2,000 worth of testnet ROGUE, USDT and ARB tokens to your wallet so you can start betting and competing in the Rogue Trader Challenge.

# Token Bridge

Our easy to use token bridge allows you to bridge tokens back and forth between Rogue Chain and the Arbitrum One chain, quickly and completely free of charge.

This is necessary because all betting on Rogue Trader is done with ROGUE, USDT and ARB tokens on the Rogue Chain. Therefore, you must bridge ROGUE, USDT or ARB tokens from Arbitrum One to Rogue Chain in order to place bets. You can transfer them back to Arbitrum One from Rogue Chain just as quickly and easily.

From the token bridge page of our online betting platform, simply enter the amount of tokens you wish to transfer and select the direction of the transfer. Your tokens will be available on the destination chain within a minute.

Under the hood, when bridging tokens from Arbitrum One they are locked into a trustless smart contract on that chain and then an equal amount of tokens are minted on the Rogue Chain by another trustless smart contract and deposited into your wallet. To send your tokens back again they are burned on Rogue Chain which releases the original tokens from the smart contract on Arbitrum One.

# Block Explorer

The [Rogue Chain block explorer](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/) displays all activity on the chain as it happens in real time. Every transaction that takes place on Rogue Chain will immediately appear on the block explorer, including all the transaction details such as amount, gas cost, sending wallet, receiving wallet, time etc.

The block explorer also shows you the full activity of every active wallet on Rogue Chain, including all sent and received transactions and the current balance of that wallet.

You can also view the full activity of every smart contract that has been deployed onto Rogue Chain, as well as the complete source code. The block explorer allows you to verify what bets are being placed by what wallets and that they are all being paid out correctly and that the fees on winnings are also being distributed properly to the correct wallets.

You can also use the block explorer to bypass the website game UI and send bet transactions directly to the Rogue Trader smart contract if you wish to. Just connect your Metamask wallet to the block explorer and then use the placeBet functions on the Rogue Trader contract page.

Every settled and unsettled bet in the Active Bets and Closed Bets tabs of the [Rogue Trader UI](https://roguechain.io/rogue-trader) has a link to the block explorer that displays the on-chain transaction that created or settled that bet, along with the winning payout if it won.

The Leaderboard tab of the Rogue Trader UI has a link to the block explorer in every player's row so that you can view all betting transactions and winning payouts for that wallet and verify his balance.

The Verify Results tab of the Rogue Trader UI also displays links to the block explorer that show the transactions containing the updated price and serial number so you can verify that they match the price and serial number generated by random.org and are therefore provably-fair.

# Stake LP-ROGUE Pool Tokens To Earn Rewards

Staking rewards on Rogue are designed to incentivize liquidity providers to deposit ROGUE tokens into the [ROGUE house bankroll](https://roguechain.io/rogue-bankroll). Such incentives are needed because there are zero fees on winnings when betting with ROGUE tokens, meaning there's no house edge working in the liquidity providers' favor.

Therefore, our staking program will pay out 0.04% of every winning USDT & ARB bet to people who stake LP-ROGUE tokens into our trustless staking smart contract. [LP-ROGUE](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/token/0x51DB4eD2b69b598Fade1aCB5289C7426604AB2fd?tab=holders) is the pool token of the ROGUE house bankroll, meaning that in order to earn staking rewards you must first deposit your ROGUE tokens into the ROGUE house bankroll to get back the pool tokens that you will then stake into the staking smart contract.

This encourages ROGUE holders to deposit their tokens into the ROGUE house bankroll, thereby increasing ROGUE's utility as a zero-fee betting token. In effect, the USDT and ARB betting is being used to subsidize zero-fee betting with ROGUE tokens, thus creating the fairest game of chance in the world.

When you bet with USDT or ARB tokens you pay a small 0.3% fee on every winning bet, the lowest house edge of any betting platform in the world.

As a fully decentralized and trustless game its also possible to bypass the game UI on our website and place bets on the Rogue Trader index by interacting directly with the [Rogue Trader smart contract](https://testnet-explorer.roguechain.io/address/0x5554503fdE48a05E36E7A54370332088faB2c58a) through the Rogue Chain block explorer or programatically using open source software like [ethers.js](https://docs.ethers.org/v5/) and Rogue Chain's public RPC endpoint.

# Self-Custodial Binary Options Game

Binary options are a wildly popular betting format throughout the world. But they've earned a bad reputation because most of the centralized binary options betting platforms are run by shady operators who don't pay out winners or who manipulate the settlement prices to make you lose or who steal your identity - or all three.

Rogue Trader fixes all of these problems.

Our trustless smart contracts pay out winners automatically, making it impossible for us to hold back your winnings at any time for any reason.

We also cannot influence the settlement price of your bet because every price update of the index is generated by our provably-fair RNG and then posted on-chain in an immutable transaction which then instantly triggers all payouts of all winning bets.

# Fees on Winnings

There is no house edge built into any of our payout prices on the Rogue Trader game. You have an evens chance of picking a winner and if you win the payout is exactly double your stake.

When betting with ROGUE tokens you also don't pay any fees on your winning bet. This makes Rogue Trader literally the fairest game of chance in the world with absolutely no edge of any kind working against you. Your winning bets are paid out instantly to your Web3 wallet with no other deductions.

When betting with USDT or ARB tokens you pay a small 0.3% fee on all your winning bets, the lowest house edge of any betting platform in the world. All winning bets are paid out instantly to your wallet, minus this fee.

The fee is split up and paid out instantly to the liquidity providers, node validators, LP-ROGUE stakers, affiliates and game developers who power the protocol.

# Liquidity Providers

The Rogue Protocol is a peer-to-peer system of smart contracts that connect counterparties to bets, guaranteeing payment to the winner according to provably-fair game results. Players are not betting against the Rogue Protocol, they are betting against the liquidity providers who deposit capital into our house bankroll smart contracts.

Players can bet with ROGUE, USDT or ARB tokens. Each betting currency has its own house bankroll, meaning that we have a ROGUE Bankroll, USDT Bankroll and ARB Bankroll that liquidity providers can deposit tokens into.

In return for adding liquidity and taking on all bets from players 24/7, liquidity providers in the USDT and ARB Bankrolls earn 33% of all fees on winnings (0.1% of 0.3%).

There are no fees on winning ROGUE bets so liquidity providers in the ROGUE Bankroll don't earn any fees. For this reason, you can stake your LP-ROGUE tokens into a staking smart contract to earn 0.04% of winning USDT & ARB bets, thereby encouraging liquidity providers to deposit their ROGUE tokens into the ROGUE house bankroll.

Our house bankrolls are non-custodial and trustless, meaning that liquidity providers retain full control of their deposited liquidity and can withdraw some or all of their available funds at any time without notice.
